Life is Not a Joke

As Steve Harvey said a couple of days ago in the Miss Universe Finale, I am gonna say the same “I apologize. It’s my mistake” Yeah, I haven’t been able to conjure up an article for this blog, but now I am back to give you another moral lesson that I can’t follow myself.

Lets get down to business, You may have come across a lot of people who have these mottos like ‘Live life like it’s your last day’ or ‘Follow your dreams, and not money’, I, personally, am not convinced with this lifestyle at all. You just give up on all the responsibilities, your duties and everything so just you could enjoy for a bit. Yeah, that’s right for a little bit. The things that you now find extraordinary are not gonna be for eternity, a time will come when you will get bored of it.

Now let’s crack down to the theory of letting stuff go, of not giving a shit about anything. I will only say that You are not alone in this world. Your parents expected great things from you, your siblings always thought you would help them in need, you are the only role-model that your kids have, if you are gonna go enjoy and not caring about anyone, just go over the impact that it will have on others. We all have a purpose, we all have duties and responsibilities. Like Hugo Cabret said in the movie “Hugo”:

         “
I'd imagine the whole world was one big machine. Machines never come with any extra parts, you know. They always come with the exact amount they need. So I figured, if the entire world was one big machine, I couldn't be an extra part. I had to be here for some reason. And that means you have to be here for some reason, too.

Why we have Steve Jobs and Bill Gates as role models and not the guy who has the hot dog stall in front of your school? Because when he was ‘enjoying his life’ Steve Jobs and Bill Gates and every other millionaire was working his ass off to reach where they are. Some of us might have different role models like singers or athletes etc. Did you know Michael Jordan practiced hundred shots a day to perfect his technique? Did you know Kobe Bryant completely changed his shooting technique rather than giving up when he broke his finger? Did you know Pepsi CEO Indra Nooyi worked the graveyard shift as a receptionist while putting herself through Yale? Did you know Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban didn't take a vacation for seven years while starting his first business?

Now everyone of us would like to be in their seat, but no one is ready to go through the hard work that they endured? We all want to be there when the trophies are handed out but no one of us is ready to sacrifice our comfort for it.
So before you start ‘enjoying your life’, think about where it will bring to you in 10 to 20 years? If it isn’t where you dreamt yourself to be, then its not a path worth taking.

There are also some examples like Mughal Emperor Akbar of subcontinent, who was given the whole empire at the age of 17 after the death of his father. So if your father also has Mughal dynasty or a Royal Empire, you can forget everything I just said.

So this is me, HassaanSK, signing off. Peace!
